According to THE CAPE reported, a special commission approved on Thursday (24) by 17 votes to 5 the controversial Family Statute in the Chamber of Deputies. The project aims to consider family only as the union between a man and a woman, excluding other family arrangements, such as that of LGBT couples, and undermining rights.

One of the most emblematic moments of the meeting occurred during the deputy's speech Erika Kokay (PT-DF). The deputy Takayama (PSC-PR) interrupted Erika and shouted: "A man with a man does not create children, a woman with a woman does not create children." And protesters responded: "It does not generate, but it creates."
On social media, many people were outraged by the vote that goes against the grain of several social movements and aims to overturn the rights of families formed by same-sex couples. They wrote, disseminated messages and tried to raise awareness among the population.
