Feature films, short films and documentaries from Norway, Belgium, Canada, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, the United States and Brazil make up the programming.

Among the highlights is the documentary A ala, by director Fred Bottrel, a journalist from Estado de Minas, released in 2014. It tells the story of Liz, Paola, Sebastião, Lana, Vanessa and Charles, detained in a prison in Greater BH.

In the award-winning short, selected for festivals in Russia, USA, Spain, Argentina and Sweden, they talk about the routine in the so-called “gay wing”, a pioneering experience in the Brazilian prison system.

“This screening is very important, as it will be the first public screening of the film in BH. The short was produced in 2014. That year, there was a closed presentation at the prison where it was recorded, in Vespasiano. Since then, it has been circulating with great acceptance at festivals in different countries, but it had not yet come to the city where it was created”, says Botrel.

He draws attention to the lack of cinema events in BH focusing on the sexually diverse community.

“I am very happy that the film is part of the exhibition. It has the fundamental role of encouraging production focused on this type of cinema”, highlights Bottrel, also responsible for the script, illustrations and editing of The Wing.
