According to information from Agence France Presse (AFP), the first case of dengue transmission through sex was confirmed in Madrid, Spain.
The case happened to a 41-year-old man, who contracted the virus after having sexual relations with his partner, who contracted dengue fever during a trip to Cuba.
“An analysis of their sperm was carried out, which revealed that they not only had dengue, but that it was exactly the same virus that is circulating in Cuba,” said Susana Jimenez, who looks after the Department of Health in Madrid.
