20 thousand people protest against gay marriage in Costa Rica

Around 20 people walked this Saturday (26) through the center of San José, Costa Rica, to protest against same-sex marriage and “in favor of social peace and family unity”. The information is from the agency AFP.

The protest was organized by the Aliança Evangélica Costa Rican Federation, which intended to draw society's attention to the importance of family unity, marriage and social peace.

During the gathering, the crowd, who wore white shirts, prayed for family unity and expressed their opposition to a bill, currently being discussed in the Legislative Assembly, that would allow homosexual marriage.

Two weeks ago, the Catholic Church also expressed its opposition to the project. Proponents of the law hope to pass it in Congress before 2010.
