The internet and its shortcuts

Again, I'm not going to talk about updates to OBSESSION. Why? Simply because I have nothing to say. Now that I've reached the epilogue, I haven't written it yet. Well, I don't think this week will pass.

After publishing two excerpts here, I think that even those who don't follow it on Orkut managed to get an idea of what my literature is all about. Until then, everything was a bit theoretical. I talked about the anxieties, the differences, the prejudice regarding gender and everything else, but actually reading it, I believe that not everyone had already read it. Today I thought about posting an excerpt from DOMINAÇÃO, but I must confess that I hesitated. I don't know, I need to talk more with the people here at the site to see if it fits. It's a book with a lot of violence, better think about it first.

Anyway, with violence, fetishism, explicit sex and everything else, the cool thing is to see that the books are gaining acceptance, and I credit a large part of this to the internet. I believe that a few years ago none of what has been happening would have been possible. This goes from editing to delivery to the reader. As I mentioned to a friend the other day, those who did things before computers and the Internet consider the current difficulties a walk in the park. Yeah, you can see that I'm not a new writer, right?

What motivated me to bring up the subject today was a great satisfaction I had. In fact, it always happens when I see a sales report. I confess that what excites me most is not the quantity, because I still can't make a living from books, but rather the geographic diversity. It's really cool to realize that I'm read in the most different regions, by people who don't even remotely know me. When I released my first book, I told the publisher, "I value 10 books sold to strangers more than 100 at a launch cocktail."

And that's it. When you launch a product and invite friends, many people buy out of obligation. I've already bought a lot of books like this. Now, when someone from Maranhão, Rio Grande do Sul, some small towns you've never even heard of, discovers your book and orders it... Wow, there's no way to describe what it means for a writer.

Obviously, books have been sold like this all their lives. What happens today is that the possibilities have increased too much. If before you needed a distributor to travel the country with your titles, today an Internet address takes care of everything. With the pros and cons (which I'll talk about another time), being an independent artist has never been easier.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, here is the site that sells me the best and that cooperates most with readers, without charging shipping: www.comprelivrosgls.com.br.
