The media likes Bolsonaro

In the beginning it was an obligation for the media to report the violent and homophobic opinions of federal deputy Jair Bolsonaro (PP-RJ), but over time the incessant news about the aforementioned deputy has become fetishistic and as homophobic and intolerant as the opinions of the parliamentary.

Asking: If the deputy were an open racist would he have the same media prominence that he enjoys today? In other words, the same press that points out the fact that the parliamentarian takes advantage of the fact that homophobia is not a crime, also uses the same factor to boost buzz, build controversy and boost sales. Homophobic parliamentarian and conniving media.

When I covered the VIII LGBT Seminar in Brasília, I was able to see this fact up close. Reporters surrounded the intolerant parliamentarian for about thirty minutes. He was smiling and drooling with each photographic click. And there were many. The worst part was realizing that many “journalists” present were offended when the deputy received more violent questions.

Moral of the story: Jair Bolsonaro and the Brazilian hegemonic media are part of the same side of the coin, the same power project: conservative, liberal, heterosexist and normative. In other words, you can take advantage of a declared homophobic person and take advantage of his sexist statements to make money without thinking about the reaction he causes among young people who visit newsstands and television channels. Everything to maintain the norm.

Fortunately today, Tuesday (07/06/11), Minister Tony Palocci fell and Senator Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR) was appointed in his place. In a country that lives under sexist barbarism, it is an improvement to have two women as the main leaders. If the sexists celebrated with the suspension of the School Kit Without Homophobia, today they are crying and growling again, because now they will have to submit to the two women. Resistance.
