“The Princess and the Seamstress” – Lesbian fairy tale divides opinions

With launch scheduled for 26/11, during the 4th Diversity Week in Santos, São Paulo. The book divides opinions by "encouraging" children to become homosexuals.

+UK study suggests that women are always bisexual or gay. It will be?

Once upon a time there were two women…

Well, a children's book is breaking paradigms by presenting the love story between two female characters. Written by psychologist Janaína Leslão stated, "The Princess and the Seamstress" is a fairy tale that tells the story of princess Cíntia, promised in marriage to Phoebus, the prince of the neighboring kingdom.

When Cíntia goes to order her dress for the ceremony she meets the seamstress Isthar, with whom she falls in love.

Princess Cíntia still differs from traditional fairytale girls not only because of her sexual orientation, but also because she does not have long blonde locks and white skin: she is black.

Another detail: the main supporters of the lesbian couple are the neglected prince himself (with his thick dreadlocks) and the protagonist's sister, Selene, who is missing one of her hands (image below).

The book, which aims to help families and schools, both in the discussion about human diversity and the broader struggle for rights of LGBT people, Its sale was announced on the author's Facebook a few days ago and caused quite a stir. Many were outraged and wrote about it:

"Look, I think everyone has to live their life as they want, but planting these relationships in a child's head is complicated, especially because most already have an image in their head of a father and mother (man and woman) so, it is necessary review certain attitudes so as not to confuse the mind of an innocent person", wrote one internet user.

In addition to the negative comments, there were also many applauding the initiative and talking about the importance of works that address this topic for children:

"Great! It's essential that children grow up living naturally with different sexual options. I find these comments "leave the children out of this" funny. Apart from "this", what, pale face? Outside of reality? To grow up ignorant and homophobic?" , wrote one encourager.

It's a "shame" that not all of the stories Disney were enough to make this journalist who writes straight. After all, is a book capable of influencing a child’s sexual orientation? Leave your opinion.
