Unfortunately, homophobia and intolerance seem to have claimed yet another victim. After facing much persecution from the majority evangelical family, Yago Oliveira killed himself on March 14, in João Pessoa (PB), by hanging. In January of this year, the young man had made an emotional report on his Facebook page, recounting the abuse he suffered from family members due to his sexual orientation. In several reports left by Yago on social media, the teenager mentions several situations that happened in his family, always stating that he never had support from his family. In one of them, he also says that he suffered threats from his mother via Whatsapp and says that his life had “become hell” since his relatives discovered his sexual orientation. Now, if you were shocked by what you read so far, well, the worst is yet to come. According to the website Mixturando, the young man's mother, whose name is Ivanilda, gave the following statement about her son's suicide: “The man up there answered my request, I prefer a dead son to a living and sinful one, it would be a shame. eternal shame and immeasurable dishonor”, he declared to the vehicle. Check out below, in full, the moving text left by Yago, in January this year, on his Facebook: I know that dirty clothes are washed at home, but here we go: *My paternal grandfather married my grandmother when she was 12 years old old and he was 30, she urinated in fear the first night she slept with him. *My grandmother cheated on my grandfather and they separated, my grandmother left all her children for her sisters' homes and didn't raise any of them, just like my grandfather who started treating his children from his first marriage like strangers without even saying hello when he passed by them in the street. *My grandfather's brother had a schizophrenic daughter, who, as he once said, “gave an end”, no one ever knew what happened to her. *My uncle, who is an evangelical pastor, had six children, with three different women, of the six he only raised two, he paid 50 reais in pension for his first wife to raise his other children and he thought this amount was absurd and kept delaying the pension. *This same uncle, who is a pastor, fled Paraíba pursued by a member of the church, after that member discovered that his wife was having an affair with him. *Another uncle sexually abused my aunt *My aunt said that we had to call the maid “Maria” because maids don't have the right to a name, as she once said. *My grandmother gave my cousin a fake high school diploma as a gift, after he failed fifth grade thousands of times and everyone agreed that my cousin was a goner. *Another aunt of mine buried alive a litter of eight puppies that her dog gave birth to because the puppies were simply born female. *For my father, every black person is marginal, every bad job was done by a black person and all these racist things that we already know.
