South Africa: approval of gay marriage only awaits sanction from the president

The South African senate approved today, November 28, as well as the parliament, the bill that allows gay marriage in the country. The Supreme Court of South Africa ruled in favor of the GLBT movement when it announced that it is unconstitutional to deny the right to same-sex marriage and now the law is in the hands of President Thabo Mbeki. Despite pressure from conservative groups, the sanction of the law is certain. If the president does not do so, the Court will automatically change the constitution.
