Alexandre Borges talks about video with transvestites and says: “I didn’t understand the scandal”

Almost two years after a video showing Alexandre Borges in a hotel room with some transvestites was leaked on social media, causing a huge buzz, the actor spoke for the first time about the episode in an interview with columnist Mônica Bergamo, from Folha de S. Paulo, and said that he did not understand the reason for the “scandal”. “I didn't quite understand something like this being a scandal, let's put it that way. It was a people-having-a-beer thing. I was having fun, relaxing, something supernatural. Nothing heavy,” he stated. In the images, it is possible to see the moment when one of the transvestites sits on Borges' lap. The artist, however, said he had not paid attention to the “genre”. “No one is hurting anyone there. There's no disrespect. People arrived, suddenly a song played, a girl started dancing and they recorded it,” he recalls. “I didn’t worry about knowing what gender, what race they were, what party they were… There’s no such thing,” he continues. “I'm a humanist guy, left-wing, let's put it that way, who believes that everyone has the right to do what they want with their lives. I respect each person’s space as I want them to respect mine”, concludes Alexandre.
