André Almada denies his intention to open branches of The Week abroad

The Week will invade Buenos Aires. In May, São Paulo's new gay temple project, appropriately called The Week Export, lands in Buenos Aires for its first edition, on May 14th, at Palácio Alsina.

The party in the Argentine capital is a partnership with the label Rheo, and will have DJ Renato Cecin as a guest. This is not the first time that André Almada has decided to take his expertise abroad. Last year, the businessman crossed the Atlantic and landed in Barcelona. In October, Almada arrives in Mexico, for another party for his new project.

In this interview with the website The Cape, the businessman denies his intention to open branches in other countries and adds that his participation in the São Paulo Gay Parade, in June, will be restricted to the production of the Eterna Festival, which is reaching its 2nd edition.

Can you give me details of what the The Week party will be like in Buenos Aires?
The party will be produced by a local partner and we will bring our entire concept and musicality to the Argentine public. The experienced DJ Renato Cecin, who represented us very well last year in Barcelona, will be the main attraction and will give the Brazilian atmosphere to the party. Projections specially edited for this edition are being produced in Brazil and will be projected on the huge LED panel of the recently reopened Alsina Palace.

How did you choose the city to host a club party?
There was already a desire to hold an edition of The Week in Buenos Aires, but only now have we found a local partner and the appropriate space.

You've already partnered with labels in Spain, for example, and now you're throwing a party in the capital of Buenos Aires. Does it ever occur to you to open a branch abroad?
No. We are satisfied with the partnerships abroad and we intend to continue investing in Brazil with the opening of a new smaller club scheduled for September, and another concert hall in São Paulo.

How do you analyze the opening in recent months of exclusive clubs, which favor the entry of "members"? Are big clubs, like The Week, going extinct?
I think there is an audience for clubs with the most diverse proposals. As for the lifespan of The Week, I think it will last for a long time yet, considering that we are always reinvesting in improving the space and always bringing new things to the public.

You told our reporter not long ago that you might take a trio to the São Paulo Gay Parade. How is your idea?
We even thought about revisiting the subject this year, but due to the proximity of the event and the 2010 edition of Eterna Festival, we ended up not deciding on the subject. But who knows next year?

What is The Week preparing for Parade week?
We are preparing the second edition of the Eterna Festival, which this year will have 7 parties and 8 international attractions. 3 of these parties will take place at The Week, the rest will take place in other spaces, two of them new.
