After criticism, Halle Berry backtracks and says she will not play trans men in a film

After being criticized on social media, the actress Halle Berry announced that he backed away from the idea of playing a transgender man in a film.

The 53-year-old Oscar winner posted an apology on Twitter last Monday (6).

“The transgender community should, without a doubt, have the opportunity to tell their own stories,” he wrote, recognizing that trans people should have opportunities for representation in the media – just as cisgender people have always had.

“I am grateful for the guidance and critical conversation over the past few days and will continue to listen, educate myself and learn from this mistake. I vow to be an ally and use my space to promote better representation [of trans people] in front of and behind the camera.”
