After Félix, Mateus Solano is appointed ambassador of a group against HIV/AIDS

After the success of the character Félix, in the soap opera "Amor à Vida", on TV Globo, the actor Matthew Solano was appointed on Friday (22), the Goodwill Ambassador for Unaids Brazil, which fights HIV/AIDS in the country.

Thrilled with the choice, Mateus said during the event in Brasília: "I have never played such an important role in my life."

The ceremony was attended by the deputy executive director of UNAIDS and Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Luiz Loures, the UN Resident Coordinator, Jorge Chediek, and the United States ambassador to Brazil, Liliana Ayaldea, who praised the choice.

"Matthew managed with the excellence of his character to pay attention to the issue of discrimination suffered by homosexuals. I'm sure he will be an excellent ambassador", said Loures.

The actor says that the nomination is an honor and that it is a time to raise awareness. "Now, more than ever, it is necessary to raise public awareness, especially young people, about the best ways to prevent HIV and treat AIDS, and above all to put an end to any kind of discrimination."
