Wilson Gavin, 21 years old, recently went viral on the networks: the right-wing gay activist confronted drag queens at a literary event for children in Australia. After that, he was found dead, in a case of apparent suicide, on the morning of last Monday (13). The information is from BuzzFeed News.
The boy and the group of right-wing activists, affiliated with the Liberal National Club, a conservative group of students at the University of Queensland, accused the drag event of “indoctrinating” and “sexualizing” children.
“Drag queens are not for children,” said Gavin in the video that circulated online.
“Wilson Gavin was gay. I don’t know why he’s campaigning against the event,” LGBTQ rights activist Sally Rugg wrote on Twitter. “I don't know why he was so angry with a drag queen. I don't know why he took his own life – but I wish he was still here to find us. We would love him and forgive him. We love you and forgive you.”
In 2017, Gavin had also led a campaign against gay marriage.
Wilson Gavin was gay.
I don't know why he campaigned against SSM. I don't know why he was so angry at a drag queen. I do not know why he took his life.
But I wish he was still here so he could have found us all. We would love him and forgive him. We do love him and forgive him.
