Mário da Silva Lopes, 30, was murdered with five stab wounds, when he refused to maintain sexual intercourse with the suspect.
The neighbors (unemployed and very well informed) said that Mário was homosexual and used to take his partners to his house.
According to witnesses, at the time of the attack, the victim and killer watched pornographic films.
The crime occurred in the studio apartment where the victim lived. North Zone in São Paulo, around 11am yesterday. According to a witness, the victim's roommate, whose identity was not revealed, heard the cries for help and went to the studio to find out what was going on.
"After she knocked. A man (the suspect) opened the door and ran out. She (a neighbor) found Mário lying on the floor of the house, bloodied and with several knife wounds to his neck. She went out asking for help, but he died in minutes," he said.
According to the witness, upon returning to the victim's studio apartment, a member of a church noticed that the victim had a R$2 bill on his chest and the TV was showing an adult movie.
"He (the victim) lived with his sister and didn't leave the house much. Everyone found his brutal death strange. But everyone commented that he used to prostitute himself and bring his partners to his house. This must have happened because Mário refused to keep relations with the suspect. The knife used by the killer was taken by the experts who came here", detailed the witness, adding that some neighbors ran in pursuit of the suspect, but were unable to catch him.
In a statement, the Civil Police communications department reported that the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Police Station (DEHS) did not attend the scene, but is aware of the crime and has already initiated the necessary procedures.
The department did not provide a reason for the team's non-attendance. On the other hand, specialized investigators reported that they did not go to the scene of the crime due to a lack of personnel.
