Last Tuesday (26) the São Paulo Civil Police arrested the killer of hairdresser Plínio, who was stabbed to death on Avenida Paulista in a homophobic attack. The criminal confessed to the crime, but claimed that he acted in self-defense.
In conversation with Record TV, delegate Hamilton Rocha Benfica from the 78th DP, stated that the killer started making homophobic insults, stating that “gay people have to die”, after seeing the victim and her boyfriend walking hand in hand down the street . When they arrived at Avenida Paulista, the victim's companion became angry with the insults and attacked the killer, who retaliated by stabbing Plínio in the chest.
Even though the killer claimed that he acted in self-defense, Delegate Benfica understood that the attacks were carried out for homophobic reasons. And the 4 witnesses and the images that were recorded showed that these were indeed the reasons.
