Gay activist sues China for not registering LGBT NGO

Chinese homosexual activist Xiang Xiaohan is suing China because the country refuses to register his pro-LGBT NGO. He is only 19 years old and is being called the Chinese Don Quixote because of his determination.

The government denied the NGO's registration because, according to authorities, homosexuality has no place in traditional Chinese culture or in "building a spiritual civilization."

According to the BBC, an agency that is seen as a government spokesperson made a detailed report on the case, which, in itself, is already a victory, as the country has always refused to discuss the topic. China declared homosexuality illegal until 1997 and as a mental disorder until 2001.

Xiang believes that the government will not go back on its decision, but is proud to have led the Chinese population to discuss homosexuality.
