British gymnast Tom Daley, who came out as homosexual in December, decided to speak out against Russia's discriminatory laws.
The young man intends to boycott the FINA (International Swimming Federation) tournament in support of homosexual athletes competing in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. The athlete decided not to participate in the competition, which earns points for the world diving rankings, in May.
To make this decision, the gymnast had the encouragement of his boyfriend, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
The relationship between the two was one of the reasons that led Daley to come out of the closet. At the time, the athlete published a video on YouTube revealing that he was in love with another boy, in this case, Dustin Lance Black.
