The American actor Jussie Smollett, 37, was indicted this week for pretending to be the victim of a homophobic and racist attack by supporters of President Donald Trump in the city of Chicago, in January 2019.

In February of that same year, Smollett was accused by local police of having invented everything. Now, last Tuesday (11), according to Entertainment Weekly, the jury indicted him for having lied in his statement to the police and after the Chicago Public Prosecutor's Office had closed its investigations into the case – which led it to continue accusing him of having lied to the authorities, alleging financial damage to the institution and loss of time .

The actor sued the city hall in return, claiming he was being subjected to public humiliation.

Smollet was removed from the series Empire (Fox), in which he acted as a supporting actor, and since then he has been away from the spotlight and without work.
