Actor Giovanni Dopico has been surprised when opening his social networks, many people are committing homophobic attacks against him. In the soap opera Malhação, which airs in the afternoons, he plays the character Santiago, who is a gay boy who has difficulty being accepted by his family.
“There were some homophobic and aggressive messages. I felt prejudice with some messages I received! Certainly, nowadays, I perceive prejudice more clearly. In my life, I have always assumed that respect is the basis of everything! And, unfortunately, I believe that society still has a lot to evolve”, declares Dopico to the website tv news, of 23 years.
Many people are commenting on his photos, especially when he appears together with actor Pedro Vinícius, who plays his romantic partner in the soap opera. Some people use these photos to launch violent attacks, calling the actors trash and commenting that they feel disgusted by them.
