Actor suffers homophobic attack and is attacked by bus driver

Actor Marcello Santanna was attacked by a bus driver in the East Zone of São Paulo last weekend. The aggression occurred as a homophobic act, after Marcello demonstrated gestures of affection with another boy inside the bus.

The actor said that the driver started the argument and asked him to get off the bus on route 3736-10. When he disembarked, the driver got out and punched him in the face, which left him deformed.

“I was returning from a tour, and I was attacked by a bus driver for the simple fact that I was with a boy. He was taking care of me, my nose had started to bleed and then we gave him a few kisses. The driver then stopped the crowd and shouted for us to leave the crowd. I refused, said I had paid and asked what would be the reason for us to leave. He then got up and at the same time I decided not to create an argument and said goodbye to this boy and my cousin. When I got down, I raised my hands and said “it's okay, I'm going to leave”, he already came throwing his punches, without even having time to finish speaking. The boy and my cousin got out to help me, the driver entered the crowd and left.

I was waiting for a beautiful moment to share my sexual orientation with everyone. However, due to the fact I found it necessary to share and not wait any longer. I am very well resolved with my choice, and I have, thank God, the unconditional love of my family. Accepting yourself is a difficult process, but living with certainty is even worse. People judge us for holding hands, exchanging caresses in public or for the simple fact that we want equal rights like everyone else. .

Homophobia has never been a subject to be approached only as a matter of fact. Like me, many LGBT people have felt attacked in some way, but physical aggression is the most incomprehensible. What makes one person attack another because of their life choice? Why attack someone because they love another person of the same sex? .

I know the images are strong, but news like this needs to be shared to show how necessary the fight for the LGBT community is! Don't think that homophobia doesn't exist, because it does exist and in many ways! We are the country that kills the most LGBT people and this fact only makes me think about one thing: I'm here alive to tell it, and how many others didn't get the chance to tell it? UNTIL WHEN WILL WE NEED TO TELL YOU NEWS?

I've already been to the hospital, I'm going to have surgery in the next few days because my nose is broken. I have already appealed my rights, and I have the support of the law.

HOMOPHOBIA IS A CRIME! Don't omit, REPORT

I thank my family and friends for being with me at this time, your support is essential.”
