“Top Gun” actress declares she is a lesbian

Actress Kelly McGillis, 51, who gained worldwide fame when she played a romantic role with star Tom Cruise in the film "Top Gun – Good Will Hunting", said in an interview that she is a lesbian.

On the website Shewired.com, McGillis, who is single, was asked if she was looking for a man or a woman, to which she replied that she was "definitely a woman".

She also revealed that she is "tired of men. I've done that. I need to move on", said the actress. She then said that coming out publicly about her sexual orientation is "part of being true to yourself. That's been a challenge for me."

The 80s actress revealed that it took her a while to accept herself and believed that being gay was a punishment from God. "Life is a crazy journey to know who and what you are," she said. In addition to "Top Guns", McGillis also worked on another cinematic success, "The Accused", from 1988. She is the mother of two girls, Kelsey and Sonora, 19 and 16 respectively, and was previously married to millionaire Fred Tillian.
