Actress who played Scarlett O'Hara was bisexual and addicted to sex

"I will never feel hungry again!" So shouted Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) in one of the most emblematic scenes of the cinematic epic "…Gone with the Wind", from 1939.

Apparently, reality imitated art, and in real life Vivien decided not to starve herself, sexually speaking. According to a new biography, the actress was a nymphomaniac, and in addition to collecting male sex, she was also bisexual, having affairs with women.

Even though she was married to the famous English actor Laurence Olivier, Leigh – born in India in 1913 – used to jump the fence with men and women, according to the book "Damn You, Scarlett O'Hara" (something like "Damn You, Scarlett O'Hara" 'Hara), which will be released soon in the US.

The work states that Vivien had a habit of visiting Scotty's, a brothel in Los Angeles, accompanied by gay director George Cukor. The two paid the boys with packs of cigarettes, jewelry and other treats. The actress was even kicked out of a hotel in Italy for bringing too many "street kids" into her room.

Vivien's stance is also reminiscent of another famous character she played in cinema: the delirious Blanche DuBois from "A Streetcar Named Desire", a 1951 film that won her the Oscar for Best Actress – where she starred opposite Marlon Brando, who, according to the book, also was her lover. Blanche was a man-eater, which she carried to the seedy Black Tarantula motel.

Vivien Leigh died in 1967, aged 53, from tuberculosis.
