Badalô is the first gay friendly bar in Trindade

Trindade Beach, which is part of the jurisdiction of the city of Paraty (Rio de Janeiro), was during the 70s and 80s a stronghold for crickets from Brazil, but mainly from the city of São Paulo. However, this reality began to change at the end of the 90s and beginning of this century.

Merchants began to become professional, the number of inns increased. Today, any cell phone works there, IBAMA has a headquarters in the village and does what it can to preserve the beach, which was recently listed. It is in the midst of this modernization that the Badalô bar emerged. Opened five months ago, it stands out for its current atmosphere and lounge in the middle of so many places that are still thatched.

"My bar was created to welcome the GLS public and modern people in general", says bar owner Joyce Martins, 26. "Here everyone can kiss on the mouth: gays, lesbians and supporters", emphasizes the businesswoman. Still regarding her target audience, she recognizes that Badalô is not the style of the people of Trindade. "It caters more to tourists who come from other cities and also to foreigners who pass through here."

Among the main dishes, Joyce recommends the Badalô pastry, "which comes with everything that isn't good" and also salmon in passion fruit sauce. As for drinks, she says that customers can't go there without trying "Aphrodite". The reporter tried the breaded shrimp portion, which comes fresh at a price of R$38. Among the drinks, we recommend the strawberry caipiroska with Absolut Vodka. Incredible.

In addition to this pleasant atmosphere, the bar's decoration is another highlight. In the outdoor area there are tables and some sofas for those who want to make themselves comfortable and enjoy the activity on the street. Inside there are more tables to accommodate people and some beanbags. On the wall there are pop art paintings with references to sexuality, and they make a great illustration. There is also a great little bar that has good service from Eli and Serginho. Joyce likes to emphasize that "everyone is welcomed here."
