A moment of happiness and love between PMs from the Federal District became controversial thanks to a supposed colonel of the corporation. Last Saturday (11), the graduation of new soldiers took place, who completed the Soldiers' Training Course (CFP VI) and brought friends , family – and lovers at the Parque da Cidade Exhibition Pavilion.

Two graduates then took a photo with a celebratory kiss with their respective loves. A soldier kissing her girlfriend, and a soldier kissing her boyfriend. “I promised a night of lots of love!”, said the author of the photo on Instagram. Check out.

Unfortunately, it was enough to attract the bigots on duty, who made homophobic comments in groups of colleagues at the corporation. In an audio circulating on WhatsApp, a man who identifies himself as a lieutenant colonel from the PMDF reserve says that the show of affection is “an insult” and “tainted” the corporation’s image.

“I have nothing to do with their sexuality. The terminal portion of the intestine is theirs and they can do with it as they please. It’s one thing what you do when you’re in uniform (…). We always learn that honor and military police dignity must be preserved. So that's what was broken there. That mess, that coldness there could have been avoided. It’s regrettable”, says an excerpt of the audio.

After the case was released, the Human Rights Commission of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF) asked the PM to investigate the comments and, yesterday afternoon, it contacted the recently graduated soldiers and made itself available to the military, according to the portal G1. Furthermore, the DF Public Ministry declared that “a procedure will be established to investigate homophobic practices and adopt appropriate measures”.

In a statement, the PM of the Federal District informs that it does not agree with or “proclaim any type of prejudice” – but it prevented the target police officers from making public comments, to avoid further exposure and controversy.” Read the PM's note in full below.

The Military Police of the Federal District informs that it does not support or promote any type of prejudice. The audios attributed to a Remunerated Reserve colonel express a personal opinion, and will be analyzed by the Corporation.

The PMDF also informs that military police ethics and integrity are basic precepts of the Corporation, to which military police officers are subject, regardless of color, sex, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.

The official positioning of the PMDF revolves around respect for beliefs, ethics and professionalism, pillars that all military police officers must observe when carrying out their duties.

The Military Police of the Federal District reinforces that it does not comply with any type of prejudice. Criticisms published on social networks are personal opinions and do not correspond to the point of view of the Corporation's command.

However, in order to avoid further exposure and controversy, no member of the Corporation is authorized to give an interview on the subject.

The lieutenant colonel's audio has been shared on the networks, but the PMs also received messages of support. “There was no shortage of photos of couples kissing at the PM’s graduation. Why did this bother you so much? I don’t understand,” asks a user. "Beautiful! Congratulations on the achievement. A person with such love in their heart will certainly carry out their responsibilities very well”, commented another. It is worth remembering that, in Brazil, the homophobia is a crime, equated to racism.
