Beautiful and engaged! Chris Pine, “Star Trek” actor, criticizes Russia’s anti-gay law

During the launch of his new film, "Operation Shadow – Jack Ryan", actor Chris Pine, who became known for starring in "Star Trek", criticized the laws adopted in Russia that violate the LGBT community's freedom of expression.

The actor also commented on the initiative of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, who decided to send homosexual athletes to the Sochi Olympics, which begin in February in the Russian city.

"I think we should do more than just send Olympic medal-winning gay athletes. What's happening there in terms of gay rights or lack thereof is extraordinarily terrible," the actor said.

Another professional colleague of Chris Pine, the renowned and self-confessed actor Ian McKellen, recently joined forces with Nobel Prize winners to protest Vladimir Putin's reactionary policies. The group sent a letter to the president calling for the rights of the Russian LGBT community to be recognized immediately.
