Brazil is highlighted in German gay awards “Teddy Award”

Brazil stood out in the main LGBT-themed cinema awards in the world – Teddy Award – which took place last Friday, the 23rd, in Berlin, Germany.

The national feature film “Raw Paint“, by Rio Grande do Sul filmmakers Filipe Matzembacher and Márcio Reolon, was voted best in the fiction category. The film tells the story of a boy who performs erotically on the internet with his body covered in paint.

In the best documentary category, the highlight was “queer transvesty“, film by Kiko Goifman and Cláudia Priscila, which tells the story of the singer Linn da Quebrada, a trans woman from São Paulo, who sings about the experience of a “black bixa” and transvestite in the favela. Linn is one of the main voices of the contemporary LGBT scene, with powerful speeches, full of political acts of resistance.
