British man says pain medication “made him gay”: “I want to continue with treatment”

British Scott Purdy, 23, saw his life take a new direction after starting treatment with the painkiller pregabalin, also known as the brand Lyrica, highly recommended for cases of fibromyalgia. In an interview with the Daily Star, Scott says that he had started treatment with this medicine after breaking his foot in a go-kart accident at the end of last year, which would have increased his sexual appetite and, better yet, made him turn gay. “I noticed that my libido for women was gone and I was wanting male attention. I was never interested in men. When I was younger, I was a little curious, however, a few weeks after starting treatment, I turned to my girlfriend and said that I no longer found her attractive”, he reveals to the English tabloid. “I just think people should know that. If someone is prescribed the medicine in the future, I think they should know what this medication can do. It took me a while to realize what it was. I stopped taking it for a few weeks and the desire for men went away,” says Scott. And do you think he stopped taking the drug for a long time?! Not even! Thanks to the “liberating” effect, the Brit decided to continue with the treatment. “I want to continue, because it makes me happy with my sexuality. Pregabalin is also used to control paranoia and anxiety. It did me so much good that I didn’t worry about what people think or say,” he concludes.
