California: Homosexual marriages will be celebrated on June 17th

After the California Supreme Court authorized gay marriages, the state's registry offices announced in an official statement, this past Wednesday (28/05), the date of the first marriages between people of the same sex: June 17th.

The administration also informs the civil registry authorities about the delivery of forms that no longer define husband and wife, but rather "part A" and "part B" in the marriage certificate.

The release of the official circular comes at a time when public opinion seems less unfavorable to homosexual marriages. In a recent survey, the Field research institute published a study stating that 52% of Californians are in favor of gay marriage, compared to 41% who are opposed.

California became the second American state, after Massachusetts, to legalize same-sex marriage.
