Advertising campaign in Russia induces people to vote not to “become gay”

That Russia is one of the most homophobic countries in the world is nothing new to anyone! That said, the country, which for years has been led by Vladimir Putin, used its institutionalized homophobia to encourage people to vote in the next regional elections, which will take place in September. The advertisement induces the Russian population, where voting is not mandatory and voting rates are very low, to imply that anyone who does not vote is homosexual. In the video, released on Facebook, two men appear talking and one of them says he does not intend to vote for a government official in the regional elections, which will take place on September 9th. “Let the others go and vote!” he said. In the next scene, the two appear taking off their clothes and one of them lies down on the bed in his underwear while the other prepares to close the door. Finally, one of the boys adds: “We have more important things to do”. After the scene, the video makes a call calling on the population to cast their vote.
