Transsexual Melissa Sue Robinson, 58, candidate for mayor of Nampa, in the United States, wants to sue Twitter after discovering a fake profile on the site with degrading messages about her.
Robinson discovered the fake profile after a Google search. The account, titled "Woman with a penis", remains live and can be viewed here. The true profile of the transsexual is http://twitter.com/melisrob.
The candidate said in an interview with the TV channel "KTRV" that, a month ago, she contacted both Twitter and Google asking for the profile to be taken down immediately. As the account remains active, Robinson intends to sue both companies for defamation and violation of privacy.
As mayor of Nampa, Robinson, founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Transgender People, said she aims to implement policies for the LGBT community, as well as make improvements to public transportation and further develop the city's downtown area.
