Capital or interior? Gays narrate the pros and cons of living in each place.

Even though many achievements have been made and we have reasons to celebrate, one thing is certain: being gay It's not an easy thing. There are many barriers imposed by heteronormative society, which is slowly opening up space (albeit against its will) to the environment. LGBT

Films, TV, music and art in general are tools powerful in this process of transition from behavior of society, but as scientist Charles Darwin would say “The theory of Evolution” the environment interferes substantially in people's lives.

But after all, where do gays live? , in the capital or in the interior? Many gays leave the countryside in search of what they dream of freedom promised by the big city (I'm one of them myself), but is it all rosy?

ACAPA interviewed gays to hear their stories and views on what life is like for gay people in each place. We have people who left interior and they went to the big city and also those who lived in the capital and went inland.

FROM THE INTERIOR TO THE CAPITAL:

“When you live in a big city everything gets closer, everything gets bigger, a gay man who recently arrived in SP deception with everything (clubs, bars, men and sex) Having a relationship in a big city for a gay person is almost impossible, because you end up suffocating the person because of what the environment offers you. However, the opportunities are greater. In a small town you and the "strange"always. You always end up being the center of attention of gossip and sideways glances. However, you live more calmly, you take less risk and the probability of getting involved with the wrong things is lower" – Jhoow Cantarelli lived in Catalão Goiás and now lives in São Paulo, the capital.

“Inside you become a reason for mockery and suffers from it all the time. In the countryside there is also another problem, everyone knows each other. If you do something, the whole city comments. In the capital, the probability of you seeing the person again is one in millions. You fiction they are also very different, inside the fact that relationships between gays are not so accepted by society ends up limiting gays to having relationships only between four walls, which in my opinion is suffocating". - Luís Felipe Cassimiro, lived in the interior of Minas, Paraguaçu and today lives in Santo André.

FROM THE CAPITAL TO THE INTERIOR:

“In Rio de Janeiro I dated, I walked hand in hand in shopping malls, I went everywhere accompanied and people didn't make me feel like I was the center of attention. Here in Belo Jardim – PE, I felt that the people I met, generalized a lot of gays. For example: If they see a gay person talking nonsense on the street, touching people, hitting on straight people and so on, they quickly think that everyone is exactly the same way. Inland there is quite a bit of persecution. Most of them don’t go to parties in their city, because of the fear of being attacked, they always end up going to a gay party somewhere else.” – Luan Gondim lived in Rio de Janeiro and now lives in Belo Jardim/ Pernambuco.

"The interior is different, when I arrived here it was calm, two weeks passed and I started having seizures. stress and anxiety, because I couldn't find friends, I just stayed inside the house, listening to birds, it killed me. My move to the interior was for family reasons, but here it also has its positive side, like the few friendships I've made here they are very faithful. Here, almost no boy attracts me, while in São Paulo, as the offer is great, this ends up making betrayals easier. – Jônatas Tepaßé, lived in São Paulo and today lives in Ourinhos SP.
