Camila Prins will be the first transsexual muse of the Grupo Especial samba school, Colorado do Brás, from São Paulo. The information is from G1.

The 40-year-old drum godmother will parade at four different schools this year. In addition to Colorado do Brás, she will be present in the Access Group as godmother of Camisa Verde e Branco, she will also be the muse of Unidos de Santa Bárbara of Access Group 2 and, finally, muse of União Imperial, school in Santos (coast paulista).

“Anyone who is into samba knows how difficult it is to conquer this space. Even more so in Brazil, the country that kills the most LGBT people in the world”, said the muse to G1.

“It took 20 years of samba to be here, and with the respect of schools and their communities. I have received many messages saying that I inspire many other trans women to get where I am.”

Camila's path was certainly not easy. She told the website that, in 2018, members of the Camisa Verde e Branco drum team threatened to go on strike when she was crowned the school's godmother that year.

Despite all this, she persevered and conquered her space.

I feel victorious. I won, the trans community won, we are here and we will increasingly occupy all spaces.

Congratulations, Camila!
