Gay couple of Itamaraty diplomats get married in Brasília

Aécio Guimarães, chancery officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty), and Luiz Felipe Czarnobai, a diplomat from the same sector, formalized the civil union at a registry office in December.

But, last Saturday (19) the couple decided to have a traditional wedding party to celebrate their union. They gathered 250 guests and received the blessing of their parents.

"We have been living the details of the wedding for eight months. There will be a witness, a page, a gazebo, a judge of the peace and the bridesmaids will carry the rings", said Alécio before the ceremony.

The two met at a show in 2008, until then, they had never met at Itamaraty, in Brasília. The duo says that there is no shortage of openly gay people working there. "Itamaraty is very conservative in many aspects, but in others it is quite liberal. Everyone knows that we are lovers and that is natural, but we are aware that this serves as an example for some couples who live in an environment that does not favor freedom ", says Felipe.

The duo went on their honeymoon to Hawaii. The couple's plans include living abroad for a while and adopting a child.
