Gay couple in crisis is the subject of a Cine Birita film

What are the different aspects of living together as a couple? In its first edition of 2019, the Cinema Birita will take care of Avareza Bar, on Rua Augusta, on January 20th (Sunday), featuring four short films that address the issue of relationships. Among them is the short Rock bottom, directed by Felipe Falanga. The film portrays a relationship crisis between two men, which can have extreme consequences.

“In the current context, it is extremely important to give visibility to the stories of LGBT couples in general; to show that our love exists, but there is also disappointment, separation, fights, like in any other couple”, says the short’s screenwriter, Danilo Motta, founder of Cine Birita. “The programming also brings the issue of emotional relationships seen from other perspectives, such as old age, mental health and the world of dating apps”, he adds.

2017 (dir. Pryka Almeida):

Based in the city of São Paulo, the short film portrays the universe of Katharina, who ended a long-term relationship and turned 30.

So be it (dir. Hana Oliveira):

Duda lived a period of his life stuck in the past. When you free yourself, everything transforms.

An eyelash on your cheek (dir. Bruno Maciel):

Théo, a boy who suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, lives his days in exactly the same way, until he meets Liz, a girl who completely changes his world.

Bar da Avareza is located at Rua Augusta, 591. The bar opens at 18pm, and films will start showing at 20pm. Children under 18 are not permitted. Free entrance.

Sample

Cinema Birita emerged in 2018 as another alternative for showing short films. Sessions take place periodically in different bars. Since its launch last September, there have been five editions in São Paulo and one in Rio de Janeiro.
