Gay couple suffers violent attack in Palermo

A gay couple was attacked by a violent gang on the corner of Córdoba and Mario Bravo. The attack took place on Saturday, during the early hours of the morning, when one of the young people attacked, being chased, was kicked in the eyes.

Reyvis Henrríquez Tovar, 25, reported the persecution and homophobic assault suffered at police station 2B. He said that at around four o'clock on Saturday morning he was walking with his partner, called Luis, through Córdoba, when he began to notice that they were followed by a gang of around seven people, covered in hoods. The realization that they were being followed led Henrríquez to insist that they should change their path.

When they were about to cross the avenue, the red traffic light stopped them. At that moment, one of the gang members kicked Henrríquez in the right eye, which almost knocked him to the ground. His partner immediately pulled his hand and dragged him away from the scene in a hurry. They ran and felt that they were being chased for a few blocks, while behind them they heard screams and laughter.

Around, some drivers managed to honk their horns and the few passersby who passed by the scene had no reaction.

The couple, both from Venezuela, managed to take shelter at a friend's house, where they spent the night in terror, before filing a complaint the next day at the neighborhood's 2B police station.

In the case, labeled “Serious Injury”, prosecutor Paulo Gaspani, head of the Public Ministry and the Fourth Public Ministry 14 intervened. Henrríquez and his partner are willing to move forward until they recognize the attackers so they don't go unpunished.
