Same-sex marriages have boosted the United States economy by R$3,8 billion (approximately R$20,27 million) since 2015, according to a survey by the Williams Institute released last Thursday (28).

Almost 300 marriages have been performed in the country since the American Supreme Court legislated in favor of equal marriage that year.

Since then, US$3,2 billion has been spent on weddings, US$544 million has been circulated due to the displacement of guests, US$244 million has been collected in taxes and 45 thousand jobs have been impacted by the demand for these weddings.
