Cine Olido shows independent film The Labyrinth of Solitude, made by young people from the periphery

On May 27th, at 19:30 pm, Cine Olido (Centro Cultural Olido, Av. São João, 473) shows the premiere of the film The Labyrinth of Solitude, inspired by the work of the same name by Octavio Paz. The film is written and directed by Raquel Freire, a journalist who grew up on the outskirts of SP and who found cinema as a means to express his thoughts and observations.

Labirinto da Solidão was produced by Somaê Filmes, in a completely independent and collaborative manner, without resources from public notices or sponsorship. It is a guerrilla medium film, in which the desire to make films, combined with effort and “hands on work” results in a film that promotes reflection on identity, life choices and madness.

The film is directed by Raquel Freire, who already demonstrates her affinity with themes that put women in focus and with contemporary social issues. Among his works, it is worth highlighting the documentary “Girls On Fire: Do Jogo Para a Vida” and the short films “Match” – which accumulates almost thirty selections at festivals around the world, and the recently released “Mood”, which addresses the use of excessive of social networks and interference with mood and productivity. Besides her, the cast is predominantly female.

The film also shows that independent cinema (a branch of Brazilian cinema) resists the lack of resources and investments and shows that it is possible to produce based on teamwork and a passion for the seventh art.

Synopsis of the film: The Labyrinth of Solitude tells the story of Isabel, a woman who had everything she ever wanted and, suddenly, finds her life empty. Everything she believed lost its meaning. The film is about identity, life choices and madness.
