Circle of debates, exhibition and plays are “in search of gay theater”, in SP

Anyone who is LGBT or is curious to know more about theater focused on sexual and gender diversity cannot miss the event "In Search of a Gay Theater", which is taking place at Casa Contemporânea until January 25, 2015, in São Paul.

The event, which is always open from Tuesday to Sunday, aims to question homoerotic production in the performing arts, in addition to presenting productions and making the newspaper library of actor and journalist Rodolfo Lima available.

The material – show programs, posters, magazines, newspapers, flyers and other items from São Paulo plays that contain LGBT characters – is the result of rich and important research by the journalist from 2000 to 2010.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, a cycle of debates takes place. And during the week, theatrical performances (check the schedule below). There is also the workshop "In Search of a Scenic Individual", which is offered on Saturday afternoons. Detail: the debates and most of the pieces are free to access.

"The use of the term gay is to illustrate what type of theater we intend to map, the different developments that the word has had in recent years, and its reverberation on the stages of the capital of São Paulo. After all, what makes a theater gay?" , asks Rodolfo.
