Gay classic “The Kiss of Spider-Woman” becomes a work of art for collectors

The book "Kiss of the Spider Woman" was published in 1976, written by Argentine Manuel Puig. Telling the story of two men – a straight guerrilla and a gay dreamer – who share a cell during a Latin American dictatorship, the work soon became a cult favorite and was adapted for the stage in several countries, including Brazil – in production with Rubens Corrêa and Ivan de Albuquerque in 1984.

In 1985, it reached the cinema in the version directed by the Argentine-Brazilian Hector Babenco and featuring Brazilian actors such as Sonia Braga, Milton Gonçalves and José Lewgoy, in addition to the central duo Raul Julia and William Hurt – this one, playing the gay Molina, a role that gave him won the Oscar for Best Actor. The film was also nominated for three other Oscars.

Twenty-five years later, the feature film's producers intend to transform the film into a work of art for eccentric collectors. To this end, they will offer a package that includes the film itself and more props: original negatives, original video masters, photos, film excerpts, copies of the script and letters from studio executives, rejecting the project because they doubted the possibility of success. .

According to the New York Times, the package will be sold by a Cambridge bookseller. The dealer did not reveal the price of the product, but judging by the mentioned content, it will not be a trifle. Start the crowdfunding!
