Sapataria – Collective of Lesbian and Bisexual Women of the DF and Intervozes – Coletivo Brasil de Comunicação Social will promote the workshop “Women and media: participation and social control” on August 9th in Brasília, which is open and free to register.

The objective, according to the organization, is “to talk about the way the media treats us and discuss actions we can take to change this situation”.

The workshop is part of the Lesbian Diversity Month events and will also be a preparation and mobilization activity for the National Articulation and Media Seminar, which will take place in São Paulo between the 21st and 24th of August.

On the same day, in the afternoon, Sapataria organizes the Video-Activism Workshop, where participants can learn a little about how to make videos that question the image of women in the media.

From 17pm onwards, some activist videos made by women will be shown, dealing with issues of gender, sexuality and women.
