Finland is yet another country taking a step forward in the rights of the LGBT community. In the vote that took place this Friday (28), gay marriage was approved.

Parliament decided by 105 votes in favor and 92 against – yes, the dispute was close – that people of the same sex can marry.
The change in legislation occurred after a popular initiative collected 167 thousand signatures last year. Furthermore, Finland was the only one of the Nordic countries that did not recognize same-sex unions.

Sweden and Norway passed the law in 2009, Iceland in 2010 and Denmark in 2012.
