Check out who were the most searched gay artists on Google in 2011

The website of the North American gay magazine "The Advocate" makes a selection every year of the gay celebrities whose names were most searched on "Google".

In 2011, first place went to singer Ricky Martin. Since coming out, the Puerto Rican has become one of the great icons of global gay culture.

In second place comes veteran Elton John. The third one that causes surprise. The post was good by blogger Perez Hilton, owner of the celebrity blog that bears his name. Perez left behind important names, such as designers Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford.

The recently accepted Zachary Quinto, an American actor, came in 20th position. O boy came out of the closet in October this year, moved by the story of gay teenager Jamey Rodemeyer, who committed suicide because he couldn't handle the bullying he suffered. Below you can see the complete list:
