Get to know Bruno Costa, candidate from Minas Gerais for Mister Brasil Diversity

This Tuesday (7), you will get to know a little more about Mister Minas Gerais, Bruno Costa. Check out the boy's interview.

Condition: Minas Gerais
Name: Bruno Costa
Age: 25 years
Profession: Tax Technician Designer

Why did you decide to participate in the contest?
I won't be a hypocrite in saying that the award and all the prestige didn't catch my attention, however, my focus wasn't seen just from that side. The competition plays an important role for all of us candidates, showing that diversity has existed for a long time and recognizing this difference is taking a big step towards a better, more acceptable and less criminal world in search of a common purpose.

Were you out before signing up for the contest?
I have always been assumed. I am of legal age and well resolved regarding my sexuality. All my family and closest friends know and that's what comforts me as a person, because these people will always be with me. I don't see the need to tell my boss at work, for example, that I'm homosexual and, on the other hand, I will never be intimidated if one day my boss finds out that I'm Mister Diversidade Minas Gerais 2011.

Do you fear any type of prejudice?
It was difficult when my family found out. I faced prejudice from brothers who have now been overcome. It's 2011 and I'm not afraid of prejudice. People have to become aware that the difference exists. I would accept being judged for my actions, for my good service, for my conduct as a son, but I will never accept criminal acts against my sexuality.

If you are elected, as a representative of diversity, what do you propose to do for the gay cause?
As I said in one of the notes in the Minas Gerais stage, I intend to wear the colors of the rainbow as the theme of my life shield, disseminating the idea in society that being homosexual is not being different. Being a homosexual means being a child, being an engineer, above all this means being a citizen who has his rights, and these must be exercised. We are what we are because we were born and we feel life translated into another way of living. Recognizing all these possibilities is realizing and respecting human diversity, thus contributing to a more fair, diverse, egalitarian and free society.

Why should you be chosen as Mister Brasil Diversity?
I'm far from being the most beautiful, most desired, fittest candidate. But I'm self-confident enough to say that I have all the qualities that the competition aims to look for in candidates, which are: beauty, resourcefulness, friendliness, intelligence and, above all, having the mission of showing society that diversity exists, and that Breaking this cultural paradigm means looking at the world as one and, above all, knowing that life has always shown us that every rule has its exception.

The final of Mister Brasil Diversidade will be on June 23rd at Teatro Brigadeiro, in São Paulo. Tickets are now on sale. know more HERE.
