It was in 2010, via the internet, that Brazilian Josefan Suplime dos Santos, 41, met American Jack Kerr Ellis, 75. It took six months of conversation via Skype until Jack finally came to Brazil to meet Josefan in person.
The couple has maintained a long-distance relationship since then, with some meetings in Brazil. At the beginning of this year they decided to get married and since then they have been facing a tough battle against the American consulate.
"The consulate claims that our story is not enough. We have already done several interviews, on May 8th they asked my partner to come from the United States for a double interview and they still refused. He is ill, he cannot travel to I change nothing", says Josefan.
He also says that the interview process was humiliating and at all times they were discriminated against due to age differences, sexual orientation and even color. "I don't want anything much, just to marry my partner", defends Josefan
Our editorial team tried to contact the US consulate, but did not receive any response.
