Actor hired to play gay officer in Star Trek: Discovery series

Anthony Rapp (A Brilliant Mind) and Doug Jones (Hellboy) joined the cast of Star Trek: Discovery, new series in the franchise.

Star Trek: Discovery will take place 10 years before Captain Kirk's mission, therefore functioning as a prelude to the original series. The attraction will have a female protagonist and also a gay character.
