Corinthians investigates cases of grooming of minors in youth teams

As if the imminent CPI to investigate administrative irregularities was not enough, Corinthians now finds itself involved in another scandal.

The new director of Corinthians' youth teams, judge Miguel Marques, stated, in an interview with the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, that there are five reports of grooming of minors and pedophilia in the São Paulo club's youth teams.

"We're going to investigate all this. It's an unpleasant, sad and promiscuous situation, which tarnishes the club's name", shouted the director.

"Everything will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the culprits will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Pedophilia is a crime and leads to jail time."

Other irregularities were discovered, such as athletes receiving more than 25 thousand reais per month without a formal link with the club, a clear indication, sports columnists believe, of money laundering or illegal diversion of resources.
