With Jair Bolsonaro's victory in the elections, insecurity regarding the maintenance of LGBTI+ rights increased, especially when it comes to same-sex unions. This fear is generating an increase in couples rushing to registry offices to get married or validate their union. According to lawyer Chyntia Barcellos, member of the Special Committee on Sexual Diversity and Gender of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). “Marriage involves feelings, not just property issues. The decision should not be driven by fear. If love already has consequences, imagine the opposite.”
