"I accept."
From May 26th, same-sex couples Costa Rica could say this phrase from a judge – as the country became, this Wednesday (13), the first in Central America to legalize equal marriage.
“Our commitment to total equality of rights remains intact”, announced President Carlos Alvarado Quesada. “We will continue to strengthen actions that ensure no one faces discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
The end of the ban that prevented equal marriage comes after 18 months of waiting and legal battles.
