Children raised by gay parents are healthier, study finds

"Children raised by same-sex parents tend to be healthier than those raised by heterosexual couples." That's what a new study from the University of Melbourne, Australia, says, which evaluated 315 gay fathers or lesbian mothers and more than 500 children.

The result showed that, in terms of "general health" and "family cohesion", children who are raised by more gays or lesbians score about 6% higher than the general Australian population.

The researcher Simon Crouch stated that the children evaluated scored higher because their parents are more likely to share roles and responsibilities equally, as well as taking them to daycare or maintaining the household.

"This appears to contribute to a more harmonious family life and a positive impact on the child's health," said Simon, who also said that social stigma can have an impact on social well-being.

Research shows that, contrary to what has long been reported, LGBT parents are not a threat to children. On the contrary. For those who are in the mood for motherhood or fatherhood, they can be the great solution.
